Hi all,

A comment about Mike Vandeman . . .

I just found this NG tonight and found that, like just about every other
active NG, this group has its own prolific posting nut case.
He claims to have a PhD - I doubt, after reviewing his posts, he has even
taken Psyc. 101 class or even spent a single day in college.
I don't know what he claims to have a PhD in but I don't think it is in
Psychology like he seems to like to make one think - post in this NG,

.. . .

The Psychology of Mountain Biking
Michael J. Vandeman, Ph.D.
January 24, 2000

.. . .

For a psychologist, mountain biking is a fascinating phenomenon.

Lying

The first thing one notices about mountain bikers is that they
lie continually!

.. . .

I have a BA (yes, Mike a PhD is higher than a BA but even a BA can spot a
Bull **** PhD) in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and
I can tell you that the way he (you Mike) words his posts in such a
confrontational and superficial manor, as well as MANY other signals, he
(you Mike) has no clue about Psychology. No Psychologist, of any
creditability, would spew such broad sweeping and unsupported
generalizations.
I would like to see him (yes, you Mike) post some of the APA published study
references he (yes, you Mike) used to validate such claims!

Hi all,

Welcome, now the next thing you need to do now that you've fed one of
our resident trolls is set up your kill file to filter his dribble out.
It greatly improves the signal to noise ratio.

Thanks Jason for the warm welcome!!!

"I thought Mikey V's PhD was in dietary science?"

Tom, as I am new to the group I didn't know, sorry.

How does a degree in dietary science give someone credentials to talk about
mountain biking?
My comment was based upon what I read, a post that insinuated a degree in
Psychology.

-----------------------------------

"Th(sic) truth hurts, huh?"

Umm, . . . No!!!

Truth is enlightenment.

What truth are you talking about???

"I am working on creating wildlife habitat that is off-limits to
humans ("pure habitat"). Want to help? (I spent the previous 8

Conservationist, I can respect that but I can only support someone who
actively goes after the people/groups who do the real/majority of the damage
to the environment, Mt. bikers don't represent numbers high enough to be
significant.
The real advisories are the soccer moms and corporate dads who see land as
dollars and playgrounds for their snot-nosed children.
To post in a NG for mountain bikers is like trying to fix a problem by
attacking the .01 % while ignoring the 99.9% who actually cause the problems
you are trying to fix.

Most Mt. bikers I know would like to see the land as pristine after they go
through it as it was before they entered it.

I've been through many trails in Wisconsin and Arizona and can tell you from
experience that the majority of the problems are from the weekend tourists
who come to visit and not from the Mt. bikers!

I get the fact that you are a troll in this NG and just like every other NG
troll you THINK you are doing something good or creditable but I have to say
that if you really want to save the environment then you would go after the
real cause of the problem, the city dweller ignorant butt kisser and not the
Mt. biker.

If you really have a PhD then I would think that you would realize this by
now.

It comes down to this. . .

If you are really an environmentalist then you will leave this group and
find one where you can help your cause, if you are simply a troll that
craves attention then you will stay here.

Your environmental friend?!?!,

Chris

BS. There are MILLIONS of them, and they all seem to go out
trail-shredding (THEIR words) every week. That's a lot of habitat
destruction!

The real advisories are the soccer moms and corporate dads who see land as
dollars and playgrounds for their snot-nosed children.

Thanks for proving my point: ALL mountain bikers are LIARS.

I just tell the truth. Mountain bikers HATE that. Live with it, LIAR.

Nothing?

He knows you have a PhD and he apparently knows your name. That's two
things.

Maybe you should use your dictionary more or "try sticking to words of
one syl-la-ble."

Your environmental friend?!?!,

Mikey V. encourages many to take up mountain biking, since his diatribes
are so annoying.
