So exactly how long did you have the new helmet for before it got
trashed in anotheraccident?? This MUST be a record... Will Limar
believe you when you claim your second half-price helmet in a week??

Seriously mate - very pleased you got out of this one... Hope that
bike
is back under your @rse again soon...

actually, i was wearing my 'old' one that my daughter now wears (big
hair needs a big helmet). it came out fine, apart from a few scratches
and lot of car-coloured-paint on it. I think however the old @#$% can
pay for the Limar105 replacement instead. I hadnt got around to sending
it off to Syd for exchange yet and would have had to fork out $115 to do
so, so Mr Conformadore can pay it instead

On the bike front, the initial inspections by non-cycliists was WAY off
the mark!

The bars are totally rooted, bent in on the rightside.
Both ergo's look cactus too. levers fractured and covers shredded.
Headset is very loose. Im expecting there to be a big ding/indent in
the race/s if opened up.
There's something dodgy with the fork too. Its a Kinesis carbon w/Alu
steerer (1"). There seems to be a bend/fracture at the top of the
fork.
Front wheel seems OK(ish) but only after a quick glance.
Handlebar tape obviously shredded as is saddle (this is a combo of
race-spill and yesterday's effort but he dont know that )
I suspect there also be a small crimp in the frame under the downtube,
approaching the headtube. little bit of crumpled paintwork which is a
sure sign.

So looks like everybody's cheek about a new bike may not be that far
off the mark after all. Im a bit excited at that prospect but alot sad
too. Me and that bike been thru alot (gravel, windscreens, rainy RTBs,
AlpineClassics, My only win, many BR's, etc).
Cecil Walker shall be giving me a full lowdown soon so my voyeur fun
can begin.

Another 853 then?

Owie, owie, OWIE!

Damn it...just like the accident I saw a few weeks ago. Hoping that all
those tendons can be tagged back onto where they need to be. The brain keeps
telling me to ask you to keep us posted, but I'm guessing that's redundant.

Hey Dutchie, sorry to hear of your bad luck, hope you get well
soon.....can't keep a good man down eh!! I don't know ya like some of the
others but it's never good when someone gets knocked down, especially the
aus.bicycle regulars.

There was news today that the NSW Carr Government is passing a law in
Parliamant that raises the penalty for a pedestrian hit/runs from 15 months
sentence to a maximum 10 years (i wonder if they'll tell the magistrates
about it) especially if death is a result, which is really good news and it
goes with what the community is pushing for, but I and many of you guys
(yeah I know you are mostly from Vic) are wondering, if this will apply to
cyclists too?? oh well...at least it's a start in the right direction.

Um - it probably took an impact. I doubt it will come out fine - it
might *appear* supificially fine, but I wouldn't entrust it to *my*
head.

Just a reminder, dutchy, that USENET is not entirely anonymous, so I'd
be careful about what I would say until the insurance was sorted, eh?

Dutch,

Bad new. Get well.

It all goes to prove my findings that Balwyn is the most dangerous
place to cycle. On my daily commute from CBD to Blackburn about 90% of
the near miss or hits have occured in Balwyn.

Something in the water there?

Nah, Hippy's departure has left a vacancy for the "Crash Bandicoot
title. So everyone's mounting their campaigns as we speak
(Indicentally, Hippy's off to compete in the International Cras
bandicoot awards, hence his departure).

In order to be a true Crash Bandicoot, you can't just crash once o
twice a year in races like everyone else, you have to it commuting on
fixieracing , on the track, in a decent sized bunch on Beach Rd, on tra
tracks (preferably whilst carrying a six pack in the Crumpler), on a S
mountain bike, in a really public place (Swanston St?) etc..

There's a reason why C grade at Glenvale is known as Crash grade

NOW you tell me!

the only bit of cgrade elevation i was looking forward to were th
elevation of skills over SCARY Dgrade

i dont WANT to be crash bandicoot, goddamitt!!!!

Some of us just seemed to be blessed with skills and circumstance
beyond our otherwise humble persona

and yes, Nick, 853 im thinkin. your black steed got me thinkin bu
there's either gonna be green on there too or Orange on there. oh, th
possibilities.
