Rear Suspension
I have a GF Joshua X0. (1998) The rear suspension is very bouncy
(RockShox Deluxe). I want to get a new rear shock. Can I get recommendations and sources for replacements? I seem to be unable to find reviews on rear shox. I find lots of reviews for front sus forks. Also, I would like lock out control - or is that necessary on new rear shox? Thanks in advance for info. -- rec.bicycles.off-road is moderated by volunteers. Rear Suspension
Rear shocks are expensive. In all honesty, you'd be better off saving
your hard-earned and buying a new bike. The main reason your suspension is so "bouncy" isn't the shock's fault, it's inherent in the design of lower end full suspension bikes that use a URT (unified rear triangle) single pivot. For about $450.00 you can get a shock that will filter out the bobbing, or for $700.00 you can get a great full suspension bike like the Jamis Dakar with a true 4-bar rear linkage that works independently of any pedaling down force.
