To underscore this - at the Junior Nationals that were held in Texas
one year after the road race there were perhaps 20 juniors in the
medical tent being given IV saline solution for excessive dehydration.
Many of the juniors collapsed on the line.

I would assume that Lafferty would prefer leaving them to die or to be
sick for a couple of weeks.

Why would you assume that?
