She is supposedly from Michigan. Or has one of her mansions in Michigan. Or her Amway husband's mansion. I'm pretty sure its cold in Michigan in December. So bicycling accidents are kind of rare in December when its freezing cold. I live a couple hundred miles south of Michigan and there is NO bicycling in December in my state. Was she vacationing in the Bahamas or Caribbean when this accident occurred? Boss on vacation in the tropics while the poor education teacher peons have to work? |

One of my cycling friends was told she has enough osteoporosis (or perhaps a precursor condition) to justify weight training and other measures. You'd never think this by looking at her or talking to her, but she goes to a gym a few times per week and lifts heavy things, because it's good for her bones. - Frank Krygowski |

I believe that the bones start to lose density at about the age of 50 and from there on it is downhill all the way. The standard for the T score, the common measure of bone density, is based on the average 30 year old and there is another standard, the "Z" score that is supposed to value your bone density against others in your age sex and age group. Note: females tend to lose bone density sooner, or maybe quicker, as they age then males. And yes, weight bearing exercises, vitamin D and calcium additives will help to reduce bone density loss but essentially it is a given that the older you get the weaker your bones become. Just the enforced immobility is already a more serious complication than it would be for a fit 60-year old. Lady across the street died of complications following on a broken hip and the attending doctor, a pedalpal, told me cycling at an advanced age (he was pushing 70 at the time) is a pretty fraught balance between the clear advantages and the danger of complications following on an incident in itself not too threatening. See https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle-protection for a safer ride. Little Betsy obviously had her nose broken when subjected to female facial mutilation. Wearing a St. Yro foam lid without face protection, her wrinkled brittle barbie beak might just have broken off completely. Luckily, she could just use divert attention by using a very affordable strong safety flasher ... https://www.amazon.com//dp/B00MXCYDBK/ |
