I changed my road bike over to a flat bar.Bought new LX trigger shifters and
levers .The back works fine but the front is getting to much throw . Do i
need to change to a Mtn bike front derailor and will it work with a 52 tooth
big ring. Or is there another fix I'm missing.
Thanks in advance.

Yep, LX/Otherwise MTB shimano shifters are not compatible with road
FDs..need to get an older, made for 48t big ring, MTB FD...bottom pull,
that will work great. copy to Tom Sherman.

But SRAM multiple detent twist shifters work fine with road front
derailers. The lateral movement of the cage is small enough for each
detent that chain to cage rubbing can almost always be "trimmed" away,
even with 62/52/39 chainrings.

'LX/Otherwise MTB shimano shifters'...don't see any reference to Sram
left twistys.
