Identifying model year of older Kestrel

I recently acquired an older Kestrel 200EMS frameset. I was told that
the model year is 1997. Is there anyway I can positively verify this,
either through factory codes somewhere on the frame, or any other
method. THX

I have been down this road. It is very tough for older models since
the company changed hands so many times and they didn't keep good
records. Did you know they were majority owned by Schwinn at one time
and built bikes in Japan? I had a 200EMS built in Japan and discovered
this after reading the archives section of the Kestrel site and talking
to them. Somebody once said Kestrel has had so many partners they are
the Elizabeth Taylor of bike biz.

I did. They sent me an old frame sizing chart and said that the chart
was all they had from the mid to late '90's.
