No, I think it's "verschlugener." It starts from the verb schlagen, which has lots of meanings. The main one is: "to hit." The cognate in English is "to slug." I got it from Mad magazine back in the fifties. I figured it was something that the publisher, Robert Gaines, made up. -- PeteCresswell |
