Default 20" fork

Hello Techies!

Does anyone know of a 20" fork that's available with disk brake
hardware? I figured that the BMXers would use 'em; however, I've been
looking dilligently for a while and I don't see any. I guess I could
get an unpainted fork and weld it on, but then I'd have to build the
jig... *much* eaiser to use what's already available.

Thanks,
Jones

BMX race bikes don't have front brakes; braking isn't really part of
the sport. Some flatland forks have U-brake or V-brake mounts, either
of which is enough for a bike which has the roll centre much lower
than an MTB and isn't ridden in the rain. There are some 20" Trials
forks with disc mounts (Onza, Brisa), but these are usually longer
than a BMX fork.

Quite a few recumbents use front disc brakes.

The Sasa aka MEKS forks are available with disc brake mounts in the ISO
406-mm size, but are far from inexpensive:

This supplier suggest cutting down a taller disc fork for small wheel
use: http://www.gaerlan.com/bikeparts/frame/forks/fork.html.

Yes, I'm aware of that; however, that wasn't quite my question... I'll
default the answer to "no" and carry on.

That bike has a front linear pull cantilever (aka V-brake) but the fork
does have a disc brake mount.

I personally would be hesitant to use a front wheel disc brake in
combination with a QR hub (insert "jim beam" counter-argument here).

Yeah, that's an understatement!

I've seen that suggested; however, I've never "cut down" a fork and
wouldn't know how to proceed. It would seem to be easier to weld the
caliper mount to an existing fork. I'll spend some time on a lathe
cutting a mandrel and welding fixture; however, the concept is simple.

Oh! Lookey look what someone just sent me from the recumbent group!

You have to wade through lots of crap (usually) but there is still
good info on Usenet.

butbutbut, isn't $30 a lot for a fork?

Calhoun Cycle is a good shop to deal with in my experience.

Golly, we're all a bit snippy today aren't we? I gave two
manufacturers for 20" disc brake forks, just because you're too
moronic to google 20"+disc+fork and find the Calhoun shop on the first
page.
