From the Tower Hamlets Wheelers e-group:
=====Quote=====
We have had news that a cyclist has been killed this morning at the
south-east corner of Bow roundabout, i.e. Stratford High St exit. We
have no other details other than that the road is closed and the
reason why.
=====/Quote=====

This is a place which has recently had a Dutch style cycle lane
installed.

And TfL have released an information video about the junction:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BvmHjOyCBg

And here's a Youtube clip showing a confused cyclist have a lucky
escape with an HGV after inadvertently shooting a red light.

There is no ambiguity, red light means stop before the stop line, he
cycled straight over.

I'm confused too. Though in a different way to that cyclist.

you seem to forget the cardinal rule:
Nothing is ever the cyclist's fault, nothing, ever.

It's certainly not their fault that people keep clogging up roads with motor
vehicles and that planners keep trying to pander to it, rather than leaving
it to stew.

Do you know if the cyclist was using the cycle lane - or were they squeezing up
the LHS of vehicles waiting at the junction?

Are you aware of the DfT advising cyclists to get off and walk round
roundabouts if the cyclist is not confident?

I wonder if that advice is common knowledge?

Perhaps the woman who was killed did similar?

It is always a good idea to pander to the wishes and likes of the
majority of people, especially when those same people pay for so much
for everyone.

However, can you explain how any of that excuses the cyclist that
completely ignores the red light shown in the clip?

After all, traffic lights are hardly a modern invention, so cyclists
cannot say that red lights are something new.
