Default some still watch boxing

and some even still watch cycling events. Some people like being
fooled, otherwise magicians wouldn't have an audience either.

so, what's your idea of a "fair" sport where the fans aren't being
fooled? Baseball? Soccer? Football? Athletics? Tennis?

I watched the next-to-last 'cross race via cyclingfans link.
Enjoyed the heck out of it. "Young man reaches deep and succeeds".
It was great, and for once full-screen mode worked just fine.

If you can't enjoy, then by all means, don't go there.
