Cyclist punched and robbed by two men on moped under Sheffield bridge

A cyclist was punched and robbed by two men riding on a moped under a Sheffield bridge.

The victim was travelling under Norfolk Bridge on Attercliffe Road when the suspects approached him on a moped.

The driver, who was dressed all in black with a balaclava covering his face, punched the victim, while the passenger grabbed his bracelet and chain.

They then fled the scene on the moped.

South Yorkshire Police have released a picture of the "distinctive looking" chain and asked anyone who is offered it for sale to contact them.

They have also released full descriptions of the suspects involved in the robbery, which happened on at around 4.30pm on Thursday May 28.

The driver is described as white, slim build, and wearing a black tracksuit and black balaclava. The passenger is described as white, unkempt looking, wearing a cream and green tracksuit, which was pulled up over his face.

The moped they were riding was black with silver writing on the side.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "If you recognise this chain or have been offered it for sale, please get in touch. We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area that day or recognises the description of the moped or the riders.

"Any information can be reported by calling 101 quoting incident number 702 of 7 June 2020.

"Alternatively, you can stay completely anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers via their website Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling their UK Contact Centre on 0800 555 111."
