which is better Shimano Dura-Ace $1100 rims, or Mavic Cosmic elites
$600?
I am guessing the Dura Ace will be better, i really liked the Cosmic
hub.

Mavic rear hub is one of the poorest designs in bike wheels today. Ya
got a LBS that can design and build a wheelset specifically for you
and your needs? using shimano 6600 or 7850 hubs, DT, Velocity or Mavic
rims, DT or Sapim spokes?

The result, if built well, will be more reliable, weigh the same or
less, use standard off the shelf parts, can be rebuildable in the
future and ...oh yes, be less expensive.

I'm assuming you're talking about the FTS-L freehub mechanism, which
does admittedly suck quite badly if you don't like doing frequent
maintenance. The rest of the wheelset is fast for how cheap it is,
although $600 should get you 7850 24h hubs, Deep Vs and Sapim
CX-Ray/DT Aerolite according to prejudice, which would be about as
fast.
