Obviously a rant by a motorist who ignores the much more serious harm
done by his fellow motorists. Maybe there is a bit of jealousy there
too because of the heavy costs of motoring compared to cycling and the
fact that he is not fit enough anyway to cycle up hills.

catalogue in to their rant with a cyclist hitting someone and riding off
swearing or laughing somewhere in there. If it was just a story of
someone being hit by a cyclist then it might be more believable but with
all the other baggage piled in, the whole thing is so formulaic it just
sounds like a rant of dubious veracity to me.

That must be right because no cyclist would ever ride along the footway, hit
and injure a pedestrian and ride away without accepting rensposibility, would
they?
