Well, we were both catching insects, but I suspect the swallow that flew
alongside today, for a hundred or so metres, was doing it on purpose

Sounds great. I was cycling along the very blustery Leeds/Liverpool
canal near Blackburn today and I was finding it hard going cycling into
the wind. I was somewhat relieved that it wasn't just me - I could have
sworn that a crow (or similar) that was flying along the canal near me
was flying backwards at one point!

Similar experience with a bat on Friday evening - wondered if there
was any 'gain' for the bat - insects disorientated by turbulence from
passing cyclist? Prob. not.....
