Whereas there are 14 million for "road tax" on all uk sites.

Road tax is the colloquial term which is used much, much more than VED in the
uk.

Porky reckons that cyclists are not obsessed by the name VED rather than Road

I don't pay Road Tax for anything. There is no such tax, so it's not
possible to pay it.

You pay the tax that a lot of people refer to as Road Tax. Just because you
don't call it that doesn't mean you don't pay it.

You may claim that you've never been to the Potteries either, as there's no
such official place name in the UK. But that doesn't change the fact that I
have a photo of you there.

However stupid, a bicycle *can* legally be carried through a red
traffic light, but not pushed or ridden.

Indeed.

It's a tax paid for using certain things on roads. It is therefore a
road tax. Its official name is Vehicle Excise Duty, but that doesn't
stop it being a road tax.

general taxation and instead called Vehicle Excise Duty.

But based on emissions. A cyclist pays exactly the same rate of VED as

insurance and submit their vehicles to annual MOTs, and of course take
a driving test, and they will become accepted members of society.

They already are.
Drivers of motor vehicles are the ones who need to be licensed.
Even dogs are exempt from that now!

Some of the dogs who drive around in Millbrook are licensed.
Not many, though.
