Let them supply the paint and you do as much prep work as possible. "Auto
paint" covers a wide range of products, some chip resistant and some not. Imron
(tm) for example is often used to paint the frames and floor pans of custom
cars- street rods, muscle cars, etc- that are actually driven on the street and
it is remarkably chip resistant even in that extreme application.
