That is a decent idea. We are always borrowing one from a neighbor or
something. Do you use a guide when you cut seatposts with your saws all?
Can you supply a picture or link?

It is not important to get my brand of saws all. Just get one. You don't
need a guide. I use a vise to hold the post, but a foot holding it to a
log would do as well, 20 seconds with a saws all and you have a clean
cut.

More importantly, life is full of rusted crap, or hard to reach things
that shouldn't be there. This tool will do a lot more to bring joy into
your life then just shorten seat posts. With a long wood cutting blade,
you can cut an 8x8 post in half, in a few minutes, with no effort, as
long as you can reach it with an out stretched arm. Put in a metal
cutting blade, and you can cut a solid bar of steel, in short time. Oil
the blade, while cutting thick steel, they are cheap, but a little oil
helps keep them sharp.

No carpenter, plumber, mechanic, or anyone that doesn't want to live
their life as a victim should face another job without a saws all.

I bought a similar electric reciprocating saw a couple of years ago,
intending to use it to cut through siezed Triumph Herald rear trunnion
bolts. It's really good for cutting through almost anything EXCEPT
Triumph Herald rear trunnion bolts

I still use a normal hacksaw for cutting seatposts though - it makes a
cleaner cut and needs less filing afterwards (and by the time I've got
the electric saw out of the cupboard, fitted a blade and plugged it in I
may as well have used the hand saw - seatposts are very easy to cut
after all).

All you need to do when cutting aluminum is to run the blade through
some wax. The hard red sprue wax they use for foundry casting works the
best, and it works for hacksaws, bandsaws, and angle grinders.

I do about 50/50 aluminum/steel seat posts, if anything, more steel.
