Default Graphical gear calculator

I've created an interactive graphical gear calculator for those who like to
play around with different sprockets and chainwheel combinations.

www.gear-calculator.com

Should be self explanatory.

BTW: what the hell happened to this news group? I used to visit it reguary
years ago, when it was a valuable source for bicycle *technology" related
stuff.

Nicely done. BTW the link didn't work for me as posted until I
omitted the "www."

There are several factors.
A huge one was the death of Sheldon Brown, probably the all time MVP.

And then there's the Krygowski "anti helmet" agenda, no "tech"
involved. Almost any lengthy thread has the unmistakable imprint of
Frank Krygowski's obsession, embellished by Tom Sherman, his
henchman.

Very nice. Especially nice interface.

You might want to consider the option of a logarithmic (instead of
linear) plot. Then equal percent changes will show up as equal
spacing on the plot.

years ago, when it was a valuable source for bicycle *technology" related

sigh Here's what happened. First, rec.bicycles.soc was taken over
by an anti-mountain-bike fanatic, who posted so many separate ranting
threads that anything of value was buried.

Next, rec.bicycles.misc was taken over by a character calling himself
Monkey-something, who did the same there. Both characters attracted a
collection of hangers-on who completed the burial of rational
discussion.

Since posts to those groups got buried, anyone wanting discussion on
any bike-related topic posted on rec.bicycles.tech, whether the topic
was technical or not. I don't see an easy solution to that problem.

Once posts on all bike related topics landed here in r.b.tech, then
the topics that historically drew abuse in other groups drew abuse
here, almost always from anonymous posters.

"Tech" value still pops up. You have to search for it, though. Don't
go away.

evolutionary not regressive as:

linear) plot. Then equal percent changes will show up as equal
spacing on the plot.

NYT had a ed-op cartoon visualizing an online (or ?) discussions flow.
Cannot find it now.
That mapping is accurate, repeated. The same posters appear at each
change in direction
as the discussion moves away from the subject.

Utube ? Uh maybe say same for Gutenburg ?

"Gutenburg ? NAH, people will loose the ability to make things with
their hands. Burnum"

Passivity or loading trucks does not develop write think but Utube
fills the gap.

never did get a grip on Sheldon's gear advice. as those numbers didn't
play out in reality on muh 29er.
will check again herein.

There's no evidence that opinion offered with ample evidence can
destroy a Usenet group.
