Hi,
A friend of mine had a very bad case of chainsuck with his new Merckx CX bike. It damaged the chainstay badly. I read that TREK has some sort of device to protect the chainstay. Are there any homemade solutions against it? I.O.W.:is there something that he can do to prevent further damage? TIA! Derk |

Trek has a stick-on small piece of curved aluminium to protect the
carbon-fibre chainstay on OCLV. I think you can buy it as a separate item. Nick "Derk" wrote in message ... Hi, A friend of mine had a very bad case of chainsuck with his new Merckx CX bike. My old Miyata Elevation 1000 has a very effective anti-suck chainstay guard that's made from a solid block of plastic. It would be easy to duplicate it by whittling one from a piece of one of the cheap white plastic 1/2"-thick cutting boards widely available from Wal-Mart (and such); mounted where a kickstand would be clamped, shaped to follow the two tubes and extend over to about 3 mm from the sprockets, it would be very effective at keeping the chain from hitting the stay, the same as the one that Miyata installed on mine from the factory. If you want a photo for inspiration, I can take one and post it to webspace later in the week. -- Typoes are a feature, not a bug. Some gardening required to reply via email.
