When was that car on sale in the UK?

I remember that Ford had a series of overhead-can engines called the
Pinto, but the car of that name would only ever have been a personal
import (and very possibly not guaranteed to meet UK C&U Regs, and
later,
Common Market requirements.

The engine was fitted, IIRC to later Cortinas, beefier Escorts and some
German Ford cars. I am not aware that it was ever recalled. Neither are
you.

Raleigh did not manufacture the primary vehicle in question.

No, but raleigh are the UK distributors and deny that the bike is faulty.
The seller or the distributor have a responsibility to reimburse the
buyer. Wiggle has finally refunded the money to the buyer.


That is a matter of contract law.
Not the same as the (mythical) Ford Pinto case where the manufacturers decided it would be cheaper to settle wrongful death lawsuits out of court rather than fix the problem.


A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
