Don't know magpies. In NOLA we had to watch out for mockingbirds.

We had a moose come onto the multi-use trail, directly in front of us,
in Coeur d'Alene. He looked at us. We looked at him, and he took off
back down toward the lake. If there had been no trail then I'm sure that
trucks driving around the road would have knocked the moose out of the way.

I know this is going to irritate some people, but the real problem is
not the bike lane. It's the helmet. Seriously.

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wHreVKgOT4 and watch what happens
from 2:30 to 3:30 when the victim takes off the funny hat.

Another secret kept by Big Helmet. I'm sure their shredders are full of unfavorable Magpie studies.

Well, now you know.

ISTR a video where someone dissuaded the helmet attacks by putting a wig
over the helmet. If Australian magpies become the next invasive
species, the American wig industry may surge. Buy stock now!

Every bird is different. The funny hat attracts some and repels others.
