Good riding , Bill. Steadiness of effort over the years is a big deal, and
you've exemplified it.!

Thank Ron;
You reports are a inpiration to me. The distances that you ride each day and
states that you have rode in. Keep up the riding and reports.

Don't know if what you're doing is a good idea.

I've been cycling for fitness for 24 years, though cycling all my life.

I gave up counting totals etc. years ago. I found that I was becoming a
slave to the bike. I've continued to cycle lots and go bike touring
regularly.

Yesterday I had a wonderful cycle in very hilly terrain of only about
20 miles and I really enjoyed.

The only thing I count, which keeps me at it, is my fun.

I'm going cycling in a minute with friends I've cycled with on Sundays
for 22 years. We will probably do about 50 miles, easy. I would prefer
to do 35.

Thanks for the suggestion. However I was first dianose with borderline high
blood pressue when I was 35. One doctor suggested that I begain taking
pressure pills. I said that I plan to excised more, he said no. I change
doctors and she said let try it. It worked, however over time I find that
short ride didn't do the job. I increased the miles and the pressure levels
came down. 39 years later I have found that longer rides is my answer. The
good part is that I enjoy long solo rides.
This work for me. For others safety, getting lost or other reasons might
make what I do not work for them. Good luck with your method and what ever
work to keep off the pills is a good method.

I think what you are doing is great. I used the bike to lose over 122 lb 3
years ago and have maintained it.

Today, I do brevets and other assorted forms of toture. Will be riding the
Knoxville Double next weekend.

You might want to check out http://www.ultracycling.com/ . The UMCA has a
year around challenge where they give awards for anyone who does a century
per month. Lets just say that if that last poster thought you were crazy,
he shouldn't check out the totals there.
