my New Years Eve ride ACT
At the last minute I decided to ride into Civic to see the fireworks.
Took the main roads, not many cars. The one yell was to attack the hill. Friendly abuse! My first spot on Nortbourne was way too close, 100m from the no go zone and the trees were in the way. So I headed to the lake. Caught the end from Ferry Terminal carpark. "**** that's a good view." Lucky the guy videoing was happy with the bonus colour for soundtrack. He was the only one there. An advantage of being on the bike, I'd been able to change viewpoints quickly. Went home on the lake path, figure the road might be a bit too "interesting". In the tunnels under the parkway I saw a fox. Kill! Kill! Kept it bailed up with my HID. The other side, it was through a mob of young kangaroos. That's life in the center of the city! It was a good way to spend an hour. |

Sounds like a good night although I always found that this time of year was not the best for riding in Canberra due to the annual migration of mullets to Canberra. I used to live out near Gungahlin and so most rides that I went on took me pretty close to the EPIC grounds.......not sure why, but the Summernats crowd always seemed to take offence to a man wearing lycra?? my New Years Eve ride ACT
Minx and I started the day in Dubbo, at the zoo. Drove home via
Molong-Canowindra-Cowra-Frogmore to my parents' house, and stayed there last night. This morning we dropped in on my brother in Boorowa (who looked like he'd had one of the best NYE parties of his life), then back to Canberra. We just finished packing the contents of a box of cherries into Fowler jars, for consumption in the winter, and we're going to spend the evening (once the sun sets) pottering in the veggie garden. Things are growing well, thanks to that November/December rain. BTH |

On 2008-01-01, Gags (aka Bruce)
was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea: Sounds like a good night although I always found that this time of year was not the best for riding in Canberra due to the annual migration of mullets to Canberra. They're probably scared it will provoke their inner gayness. -- TimC cat ~/.signature Passing cosmic ray (core dumped) |
