What's the Fuji Absolute SX for 2007?
Hi:
Just got a Performance Bicycle sale flyer in the mail and one of the bikes on sale is the "Fuji Absolute SX '07." Only thing is, there's no "SX" model listed in the Fuji Absolute line at the Fuji web site. Any idea what makes this model a "step above" the rest of the Fuji Absolute line? It seems like I've encountered this before, i.e., Performance touting a Fuji bike that Fuji doesn't list among their production models. Does Performance have some of special relationship with Fuji? No special knowledge about Fuji or Gary Snook but _anybody_ who's buying a few cans of bikes can buy all the 'special relationship' they want. Pink rims, leopard saddle covers, 'autoshift', "SX Series", "Volkswagen Edition", whatever. This is not to disparage any particular bike. Nashbar's Maruishis were pretty well built with "Nashbar" name for example. But counterexamples abound, too. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

I was wondering the same thing and stopped by a store and looked at it. It has a 10 speed 105 set up in the back, carbon fork, not sure about the seat stays. It looks a lot like the top of the line 2006 Absolute model here.... http://fujibikes.com/2006/bikes.asp?id=144 It is a nice bike. The 20 pound weight from the 2006 seems about right as well. |

Emailed Performance Bike asking for details about the bike and the specs they sent back look to be exactly in line with the '06 Fuji Absolute 1.0. Tom Young |

According to the local Performance Bike Shop manager, Performance is the biggest volume buyer of Fuji bicycles in the United States. The Fuji Absolute SX is a step above the Absolute LX. Among its upgrades: Frame -- in addition to a carbon fiber fork the SX has carbon fiber seat stays to give more flex to the rear triangle. The SX has a 10 gear cassette. The SX has trigger shifters rather than grip/twist shifters. |
