i bought the wrong sized wheels
i bought the wrong sized wheels.
i bought a set of ARAYA TM820/STX RC ATB WHEels and though that i was buying 27 X 1 1/4 wheels. will these wheels fit on my fuji bike or on my univega bike which take the larger sized wheels? why can't the catalog say these are 26 X 1 1/2 wheels? what does ARAYA TM820/STX RC ATB mean? pete |

No. These are mountain bike wheels, and will only work with bicycles designed for 26" wheels. why can't the catalog say these are 26 X 1 1/2 wheels? 'ATB' - all terrain bike - implies that they are 26" wheels, but they're not 26 x 1 1//2. 26 x 1 1/2 is the obsolescent 650B size. what does ARAYA TM820/STX RC ATB mean? ARAYA is a manufacturer of rims. TM820 is a rim model designed for mountain bikes. STX RC is a mid-range hub model from Shimano, no longer made. 'ATB' tells you that these are 26" mountain bike wheels. James Thomson |

'ATB' tells you that these are 26" mountain bike wheels. If you are able to exchange these wheels, you might consider buying a pair of 700c wheels rather than 27". The 700c rims are only 4mm smaller in radius than 27" rims, and would give you a far better choice of tyres. If your brakes will reach the extra 4mm it would make far more sense than committing to 27". James Thomson |
