On a program called Scrapheap Challenge one episode they jet propelled a pair of go-karts. One team went for a pulse jet almost identical (but smaller) than in the clip, the other team built a 'turbine' engine with the turbocharger from a truck. The turbine team had to drop out because of lubrication failure to the bearings, it was judged that catastrophic bearing failure at those kinds of RPM would be just too dangerous. |
