Considering buying new rather than mod'ing mine. These are just a few shekels
apart: http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/195...-Frames/Sette- Reken-Hardtail-Alloy-Frame.htm or http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...10052_173009_- 1_201511_10000_201512 Useful observations and / or experiences welcome. Thanks. |

Only difference I see is that the Sette has a stouter gusset on the head/downtube junction, and half a degree slacker geometry (which could be explained by 80mm vs 100mm forks). If you like red, or want to save $10 get the Sette. If you don't like decals, get the Nashbar. |

Thanks. Only difference I see is that the Sette has a stouter gusset on the head/downtube junction, and half a degree slacker geometry (which could be explained by 80mm vs 100mm forks). If you like red, or want to save $10 get the Sette. If you don't like decals, get the Nashbar. The Sette weighs 1/2 pound more (claimed). All else equal, that would make me favor it over a lighter frame of equivalent material and construction. It's a small difference, though, and the decal-free nature of the Nashbar frame is appealing by comparison. The Nashbar frame's dropouts look way more accommodating for drilling, tapping, bolting, or clamping any sort of accessories onto. That's probably not a factor for most folks, but having the option is nice. Big sturdy plate dropouts were a major reason I picked the Redline Monocog 29er over other 29er frames. In a genre of bike that is chronically short of brazeons and eyelets, that counts for a lot. Chalo |

Get the Sette if you like a longer top tube and the Gnashbar if you ever want to mount a rack properly. Also, like Chalo mentioned--Gnashbar's claimed weight is a half pound lighter. Not a big deal--but if it's at no penalty--why not? |

Now to overcome my major dislike of all things black... Well, you can get some of those fruity pan-gendered Velocity rims for it if you need some je n'sais quoi. Popsicle-colored Oury grips and celeste cable housing, WTB glitter saddle, and your bike will be looking like Boy George in no time. Chalo |
