Default Three in court after cyclists suffer serious injuries in alleged attack

Well done to the law system!
QUOTE:
THREE men have appeared in court in connection with an alleged attack on cyclists in Renfrewshire.

Alan Cadle, 30, Nathan Macleod, 19, and a 17-year-old suspect who can’t be named because of his age are all charged with attempted murder.

They were arrested by police probing an alleged stabbing on a cycle path near Nether Johnstone Small Holdings, in Milliken Road, Kilbarchan.

A large stretch of the path was sealed off last week after three men were injured.

Police said a 37-year-old man suffered stab wounds and was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, for treatment.

A 29-year-old man who was left with facial injuries was also taken to the RAH but was later released.

The third cyclist who was hurt is an 18-year-old man who has minor facial injuries.

The incident took place at about 10.20pm on Wednesday, May 27, and led to police stepping up patrols along the cycle path, which links Paisley and Lochwinnoch, at the weekend.

Mounted officers were joined by colleagues on bikes to provide a visible presence.

Detective Inspector Iain Ross, of Paisley CID, told The Gazette: “The response from the public to our appeal has been very positive on this occasion.

“It is very much appreciated and has certainly helped our enquiries into this incident.”

Cadle and the 17-year-old suspect, both from Johnstone, appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, with Renfrew man Macleod in the dock yesterday.

They each face three charges – assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder; assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement; and assault to injury.

None of the three made any plea. Cadle was remanded in custody, while Macleod and the 17-year-old suspect were released on bail.
