Questions are coming to mind:

1) Will their publicity agent get a medal? He's certainly doing a great job!

2) Geez, does every CW bike have to look like a "ghost bike"? Is that really the association they want?

3) Will this really cause as huge a change in America's transportation systems as the Segway did?

Just wondering.

Gawdamighty, just YouTube search Copenhagen Wheel -- it's everywhere, and the MIT team is all young and model-ish. Is being attractive an admission requirement at MIT? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYsxYZuErqg

I really do need an app to tell me what the air conditions are, where other people are riding, etc., etc. I care about all of those things deeply. It also gives me the opportunity to stare at my iPhone as I ride along and chat with my friends OMG!

If I had instrumentation this morning, I could have confirmed that it was f****** cold and that the road was covered in ice. I could have shared that with my friends, e.g., "LOL! FNA! IC tday, dohan fall on Ur Ass! ):" I could have had entirely meaningless and unnecessary communications with others -- much like this post!

I wish the great heel of God would come down from heaven and smash all the smart phones. LOL. EOM. Happyfacehappyfacehappyface.

+1. Well at least iPhones.

It actually amazes me that some families are spending multiple hundreds
of dollars per month on smart phones. While we have four Android phones,
on Verizon's network, I guess I'm cheap because I have minimalist plans
with very little data. Even spending $69/month seems like a lot to me
but plenty of people I know are spending $200-250/month for three or
four smart phones.

Per Frank Krygowski:
3) Will this really cause as huge a change in America's transportation systems as the Segway did?

I misjudged Segway big time.

"Huge change" might be too strong, but I figured I'd be seeing at least
a few every day everywhere.

Anybody got a slant on why it flopped?

News reports of crashes? Dubya's experience?

I hesitated to reply to Frank's comments earlier, but since
the subject persists I found this among the many results
searching "segway dork"

http://www.paulgraham.com/segway.html

And then there's the usual chicken-egg question:

I'm just glad jerks of his ilk don't ride Bianchis.

On the positive side, the cameraman who does the shots of Chris Boardman
riding the last few hundred metres of a TdF stage describing the finish
for later does so on a Segway. So they have some use.

In comparison, two Android phones cost me about 400 baht, or about
US$12 a month, in total. Living in a downtrodden, 3rd world country
does have some advantages.

Because it was a solution in search of a problem, and very few
problems were found.

Not to mention that standing quietly is *very* strenuous. Soldiers
are taught special techniques for standing still -- those who attempt
to stand at attention for a long time without first learning those
techniques have been known to pass out.
