Default Removing upper pulley from Suntour VGT

OK-I thought I did this at one time 30 years ago, but I can't
remember how. Do I have to remove the entire spring mechanism to
do this?
Thanks

Hmmm, it's been a long time, and I don't have a VGT anymore, but I
believe the answer to your question is yes. IIRC, there's a stop that
keeps the cage pivot from over-wrapping/over-rotating. Unscrew it,
rotate cage to remove all spring tension. I think there's a nut on the
inside (spoke side) of the upper pulley. Remove it. Then undo hex-key
bolt (from the outside/non-spoke side) that's lined up with the pulley
axle. It exposes the end of the pulley axle / spring axle. NOTE THE
SLOT THAT THE SPRING IS IN! Axle should now pull out on the spoke side.

Hmmm #2 - I think I've conflated the VGT with the first-generation
cyclone. Sorry, it's late. But some combination of the above should do
the trick. Good luck.

You"re correct. I took another look at the stop with my bifocals on.
I was thinking it was riveted, but I now see there is a slot in it, so
it can be unscrewed.
Thanks
