Apple makes texting while riding safe. With this patent, you will
receive an on screen warning that you are about to crash while
texting, thus making it possible to text while riding. With a little
imagination, this patent can also be used to allow reading, browsing,
and checking email while riding, thus avoiding the anxiety produced by
oncoming traffic and immovable objects.

this release is relevant to current LA and Cal earthquake paranoia, the OSO debacle, and generally the SF concept that equipment has consciousness. Here the consciousness manifests in a protective force field for device and user.

Drupe ! appro Dude right on.

The way people hold their phones while they text, read, or web browse,
while cycling, walking, or driving, makes the value of that app
questionable. They need a motorized lens that automatically points in
front of the user and that adjusts for the incline, if any. I.e. if
you're walking (or cycling or driving) up or down a steep hill, or
climbing or descending a mountain, the lens needs to adjust its position
for terrain.

For cyclists, linking a collision avoidance system to a helmet camera
from a phone via BLE would work. For vehicles it could be a dashcam
which are becoming more popular in the U.S.. For walking I guess some
sort of camera attached to glasses would work.

I sensor radiates 360 with radiation propagated more in travel vector...linked to a body sensor...an I/body processor then transmitter to THE CLOUD.

Herr Cloud then processes...

into all kinds of unconstitutional information and a California Earthquake sensor.

Agreed. However, the alleged benefits of such a safety device gives
the user the perception of safety, thus allowing them to perform
dangerous acts of near terminal stupidity on the assumption that if
they do something wrong, the device will warn them. That's the basic
fallacy of all safety features and devices. As always, perception is
everything.

No problem. A gimbal mount, an inclinometer, and gyro stabilized
iPhone mount for the bicycle should do the trick. Extra points for
doing the same with the bicycle headlight (as I previously suggested).

Yep. I suspect that a modular phone will be the next innovation,
after the smartphone makers are done copying each other. One module
could be an external camera, with BLE (Bluegoof Low Energy) for
inter-module communications. It may also be possible to separate the
display module from the cell phone module. Such things already exist
for the GoPro camera:
https://www.google.com/search?q=gyro+stabilizer+gopro&tbm=isch
Soon, everyone will be wearing bicycle helmets just to mount their
cameras.

For vehicles it could be a dashcam
which are becoming more popular in the U.S.. For walking I guess some

Eyeglass cameras, such as Google Glass, are known to give one the
"evil eye". These can suck out your immortal soul, affect
probability, and invade your privacy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_eye
Superstition dies slowly. Perhaps including the necessary talisman in
the box will help.

To succeed in a really big way, the phone gizmo should have several
other features:
1) A way of enabling claims that it "Saved My Life!" even if it did no
such thing. This reinforces pride of purchase, and generates volunteer
advertising. (Or as some might call it, "guerrilla marketing.")
2) A way of requiring a purchase of a new unit at full price if it ever
does pretend to Save Your Life;
3) A way of purportedly expiring - say, by claiming that three years of
sitting mostly on a shelf will decrease its life saving capability below
some magically critical threshold.
4) An organization of volunteers - say, Safe Phones, Inc. - who will
lobby to mandate the device, claiming phoning without the device is
terribly, terribly dangerous, even if the user is sitting still.

I know that sounds weird, but that strategy has worked very well for
certain other "safety" devices.
