Isn't this just a rehash of the Sinclair Zeta?

I never had problems with
properly set-up tyre-drive dynamos, but plenty of people are happy to
whinge about those slipping or chewing tyres, I suspect this may be the
same.

For me it was if the wheel had a buckle - as most of my bikes of that
time with cheap steel wheels tended to have.

For cyclists commuting, it could mean the difference of arriving
sweat free if there's strong headwinds and/or steep hills etc on
route . I can see the benefit for some.

You're assuming the drive mechanism is as effective as a hub motor.

I don't think it's as versatile - it's only ever pedal assist for example.

Also that the Michelin rack doesn't prevent users from fitting their
luggage (and their luggage doesn't impede the removal and fitting of
the battery pack).

I suppose the only way to find those points out is to have a test ride.

Quite. I've never ridden an electric bike, keep meaning to.

I've got my eyes on this beast:

Electric E Bike 500W Superfast New 2017 Model Fireball Red/Black ...
www.ebay.co.uk › Sporting Goods › Cycling › Bikes
£775.00 - ‎In stock
EBike Electric Bike 700c eDaiquiri BLACK Single Speed Bicycle e-bike
Sizes:S/. SPONSORED ... Details about Electric E Bike 500W Superfast New
2017 Model Fireball Red/Black 27.5" Wheels. UK Seller - Full ... Collect
775 Nectar points.

You can flick a switch from UK legal (15.5mph) to over 30mph

The 1000w version can do over 35mph, but I wouldn't fancy going quite
that fast on a bicycle :-)

There's a loon or 2 on Utube doing dafty mph on main roads.

I'd be surprised if that's really legal - just a switch that you could
flick as you were slowing to a halt when being pulled over by police ...

Plus it's probably a horrid cheap bike that they've stuck the electric
parts onto. There's no front mech, so good luck riding home up a hill
when the battery, controller etc. gives up and you need to pedal.

I don't like the look of the spokes on the rear of that!

How can it be illegal to have an electric bike that goes over 15.5mph if a normal one can easily be pedalled faster than that? In reality you'd never get done, as it looks like a normal bicycle. Police aren't looking for bikes going over 15.5mph.

Why would it be more likely to give up than a moped or motorcycle? And why would you need front gears to pedal? When I were a lad, you had 5 gears on the back, and only one on the front.
