I understand that Mavic calls for mineral oil in their Ksyrium freehubs.
The question is, just exactly what is mineral oil? Are regular sewing
machine oil suitable? Are baby oil from the supermarket considered to be
mineral oil?

An addendum to my previous answer.
Buy a quart of mineral oil at the pharmacy.
Guaranteed no unpredictable additives.
Good for whet stones and other uses around the house too.

They have them at pharmacies? I'll look into it.

"Mineral oil is sometimes taken orally as a laxative. It lubricates
feces and intestinal mucous membranes, and limits the amount of water
removed from feces. Typically, mineral oil is effective within as little
as six hours." from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mineral_oil.

Most drug stores and larger grocery and discount stores should have
mineral oil sold for this purpose.

Woe betide the incautious user. See the legendary Best-Of-Craigslist
entry relating to Olestra for a graphic depiction of what can happen;
the physiologic effects in many instances are not dissimilar.

You can get the "runs" from lubricating a Mavic hub with mineral oil?

Used as directed, it might prevent tailgating at least.
