I once read a learned dissertation alleging that as methane is a
"warming" gas and cattle emit methane gas - quite a bit of it in fact
- that the sacred cattle in India likely a factor in global warming.

Given the logic presented and the furor generated I suggest that any
discussion regarding global warming is akin to a discussion of chain
lubes.

The U.S., it is said, is the largest emitter of CO2, on a per capita
basis, nearly three times greater than China. The "average Usian
family has 1.9 automobiles. A simple reduction of cars to one per
family would significantly reduce both Usian family debt and carbon
emission. Will the U.S. do this? I read that three-quarters of all
Usian homes are equipped with air conditioners, something that didn't
even exist for the first 290 years of the country's existence. Will
the U.S. population agree to reducing this number?

In short any discussion of global warming is, in reality, simply a
revisiting of a statement made by our Financial Manager during a
manager's meeting to try and reduce costs, "Cost reduction is anything
that doesn't effect me".

One Car: Mommy drives Johnny to schools, drives home, drives back to

I think this is more likely:

Two cars: Mom (and/or Dad) drives to work and drives home. Johnny
drives to school and back.

One car: Mom (and/or Dad) drives to work and drives home. Johnny takes
the school bus. Or (gasp!) rides his bike.

If we got rid of one of our two gasoline-powered road vehicles, carbon
emissions would *increase*: we can do car jobs with the truck, but we
can't do truck jobs with the car, so it would be the car that had to
go even though the truck spends much more time sitting idle.

I've found that a small car towing a small utility trailer can handle
almost any "truck job."

Why can't you do all the jobs with the pickup? After all, a bloke in
my high school class was famous for taking his date to the Junior Prom
in a dump truck.

I believe that he later married the girl so perhaps there is something
about trucks and romance :-)

Or we could move into Grace Village; they often take their residents
on bus tours.

What I can't figure out is how I got along for all those years with a
family of 5 and only one car... and didn't feel deprived.
