other runners a sport? If it is, does my commute also qualify as a sport since
I run the exact same route every day and I always try to increase my average
speed?". The first is indeed participating in a sport. The second is not. It's
commuting and attempting to cut commuting time.
BTW, if you do run 52 miles roundtrip everyday I am in awe. g

of organized or group activities, but merely striving and competing with

part which includes striving for better times, higher speeds, longer

In which case, you can fairly claim to be participating in a sport.
