No where does US appears in the newsgroup title. It is so. It's in English, and everyone knows that the U.S. invented English. Everyone knows that bicycles were invented in the U.S., even though they were not. It would seem that if you wanted to comment on anything about this group you would know that it was founded by Sheldon Brown at Harris Cyclery in Massachusetts. But then comments around here generally don't come from people that know anything. Some online digging pulled up the post in news.groups to reorganize the hierarchy and create rec.bicycles.tech. The post was dated May 19, 1992 and was written by Les Earnest. Bruce Hildenbrand was also mentioned as being part of this movement. No mention of Sheldon Brown. And here is the first post to the new group. Again, no mention of Sheldon. ================ first post to r.b.tech ================= Newsgroups: rec.bicycles.tech From: (Les Earnest) Subject: Welcome to rec.bicycles.tech Message-ID: Sender: Organization: Computer Science Department, Stanford University Date: Wed, 26 Aug 1992 05:23:49 GMT Lines: 11 I'm pleased to see that this group is alive and well. Rok Climber. Thanks. +1 I haven't thought of him since the heydey of rbr. And fun to see Les's name pop up. I ran into him when he was soliciting folks to sign on to a lawsuit against the USCF, and again when we both helped EFF file Federal Register comments against the DMCA. -- Ted Heise West Lafayette, IN, USA |

Yes, the flu jab is a best guess selection of the strains that "the medical powers" think will be the dominnant strains for this years flu season and sometime they have good results and some times (2019 here) they guess incorrectly and things are bad. I can get a free flu shot, but I've always refused for two reasons; 1. at worst, my suffering from the flu is 24 hours and I know plenty of people who suffer longer from the effects of the injection, 2. as I've repeatedly tod the GP, it isn't any use as it is for last years northern hemisphere flu and it takes six months for the local flu experts to identify the strains active here and develop a new flu jab. One important way to avoid panic in the population is to not publish the data: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season...-2017-2018.htm "While flu deaths in children are reported to CDC, flu deaths in adults are not nationally notifiable. " Which seems to be as effective as anything. You missed the part that said: "In order to monitor influenza related deaths in all age groups, CDC tracks pneumonia and influenza (P&I)-attributed deaths through the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) Mortality Reporting System. This system tracks the proportion of death certificates processed that list pneumonia or influenza as the underlying or contributing cause of death. " (funny that as it was right next to the part that you quoted) -- cheers, John B. |

Most of the people that have died have had such serious preexisting conditions that they were not expected to live out the year. I have repeatedly linked the paper that determined the average "lifetime lost" on Italian COVID fatalities was 10 years, not "significantly less than one year". No, Ralf, according two two different newsservers, you did not. Maybe somewhere else, maybe in your head, but apparently not on rbt. There is a 85 percent chance you get your news from the commie-usurped Telepolis magazine, though, so might be refering to Roetzer's article linking to these: https://wellcomeopenresearch.org/articles/5-75/v1 https://avalonecon.com/wp-content/up...9-QALYs-v3.pdf Next time, Rolf, bring your own tea leaves, will you? |
