Default So I bought a "Freeride" MTB - and now what do I do with it?

Thanks to all the people recently who answered my question about disc brakes
vs v brakes.

I took the advice, bought the disc over the XT bike which was lighter but
twice the price.

So I've gotten me a "freeride" MTB (I know very little about MTB except the
acronym and the parts they use).

Basically for beach summer riding, but the guy I bought it from said they
are built super tough and are break for trashing around.

Well, it looks tough and its bloody heavy! So other than beach, should I
discover some inner youth and trash it in a quarry or trail somewhere?

Replies appreciated. (ps its a Gitane Hammer)
