I found a digital camera by the side of the road near Estes Park, CO, and
would be glad to return it to its owner if I can find him!

The pictures in the camera start in Missoula, Montana on 8/25/07, and show
a group of 6 men camping and cycling through down through Montana, Idaho,
Wyoming (including Yellowstone), pulling into Estes Park on 9/11. One of
the early pictures showed the front of the Adventure Cycling in Missoula
(I've contacted them already).

I uploaded one of the pictures that shows all the guys here ...
http://www.sc3.net/bike.jpg

Anybody recognize them?

Thanks,
Chris

This is really a reach, but the one guy with the beard appears to resemble
Sheldon Brown, a prominent contributor on these forums. However, Sheldon is
in poor health the last I heard so I don't know if that would be him or
not???

You might try to Google his website for contact info and see.

Like I said it is a stretch, but you never know .....

No, but I recognize the fish. The picture was taken along the River
Walk in Missoula.

Funny thing, I was in Missoula on 8/25/07, but don't remember seeing
these guys.

Maybe one of them is you. I know it's painful sometimes, but have you
checked in the mirror to see if you resemble one of them?

The camera's memory is a storage device with a file-and-directory structure
that can probably be read by your computer. Plug it in and see if the
owners left any kind of files there with identifying information.
(I did -- a file called "OWNER" at the root directory of my camera
chips, and likewise on my flash drives. You nver know: occasionally an
honest soul finds these things after I lose them.)

Do I see something written on one of their gloves? Too bad you
can't use the "zoom and enhance" image software that they use on those
TV crime shows. Just zoom in on the spot , apply an
"inverse Heisenberg compensation matrix" on one pixel, and you could
read a name and phone number :-)

More seriously... I wonder how long the camera was sitting beside the
road? Are the batteries still charged? Does the camera's clock have the
right date. I have seen several people's cameras where the
the date was incorrect, most commonly from removing batteries. If the
clock's date isn't correct, maybe they weren't in Missoula on Aug 25.

The EXIF header on digital camera files actually has a provision
for GPS data. But only a few high-end cameras have a built in GPS
that record the latitude and longitude of each photo. If this
was one of those cameras and it had a photo of the owner's home
you could find him!

If it was I that lost the camera, I would be more concerned about the
memory card. The camera can be replaced with a few $100, but
the photos of a good tour are priceless.

Nope, not me. My beard is much less impressive than that one these
days, an I haven't had that much hair on the top of my head since the
1960

Here's a more recent photo: http://sheldonbrown.org/journal/jour...05.html#051607

However, since I made that photo, I've stopped dying my beard, it's
back to light gray. I also stopped shaving my head since wintertime
is coming soon, so now my hair is almost 1/4" long.

Isn't that funny ... I found a digital camera while out bicycling myself.

The photo's are Britney Spears. And she is naked. And she has a bicycle.
And ....

I'm keeping the camera, pictures, and the 9 million dollars diamond I found
with the camera.

Take that..

Try contactingwww.zztop.com. One of those guys appears to be Billy
Gibbons.

Maybe check crazyguyonabike.com for a tour journal that follows their
route?
