Default cheapish HRM

I want to start working my training around a Heart Rate Monitor. The
thing is, my wife just bought me a cateye computer (if she'd only asked
me first, i'd have told her to get one with a HRM!) so i really only
need a monitor that 'does the job'. I've asked a couple of bike shops,
but i don't really need a $220 + job. So does anyone know where to pick
up a cheapish one?

happy days, J

Check out the local Polar distributor's Web site -- they had some specials
on older models recently.

Cecil Walker Cycles usually has some on special and his online store is
quite good. His cheapest (Polar A1) is $120 at the moment.

I'd beware the real cheap no-name ones you find in Tandy and Dick Smith
(non-Polar, Timex etc) for under $100. I bought one for my mother's
power-walking and it has been replaced under warranty twice already. I'm
on my second Polar without a problem...

I bought a good one on eBay about a year ago. Spent about $160 on a
Polar Accurex. It does everything I need.
