My Circa 1850 stripper was all gone so I read the ingrediants of the
small can of Home Hardware's Gel Paint stripper I also had (but forgot
I did) and saw that they were very similar to the Circa 1850 stuff.
About 1/2 hour ago I finished washing and copiously rinsing the
successfully stripped forks with very hot almost boiling water I
usedmany gallons of rinse water to be positive I got all of the
residue from the stipper off. I just need to touch up the black paint
on the stem, bars and brake levers and the rebuild will be completely
finished.

Post pics once you're done! (And thanks for the interesting thread.)

May the wind be at your back and your punctures few.

Keep the rubber side down.

And if you ever crash lift and protect the bike at all costs as you
slide along the pavement. Why? Because flesh heals and Campy doesn't.

I'll get some picture up on my Flickr account a bit later today.

Thanks to all for the interest in and the useful advice given for my
many projects.

Cheers

Hi there.

It is finished! I have made an end to it.

The bicycle has been rebuilt with mostly Shimano N600 components. All
I need is to find a N600 headset to replace the Italian thread
Campagnolo Record one with. The bicycle rides very well and I am
extemely pleased with how the rebuild turned out.

Thanks to all who gave so freely oftheir time to offer sound advice on
many aspects of this restoration project.

Images are now here of this bike and of my MIele with Columbus SLX
tubing. http://www.flickr.com/photos/73832500@N00/

Cheers
