tdw- How much would it cost for a sub 16 lb. Colnago or Lightspeed? How much
would
it cost if you don't own a bike shop? BRBR

Calfee Dragonfly, carbon fork, Record, hand-made wheels-About $6200..easily
under 16 pounds.

How about $43-4500 for a Trek?

The Litespeed and Colnago would run you about $5500.

Yowza. How long would you guys expect to keep, and ride, such an investment?

With basic maintenance, 10 years easy.

Just got back from test riding the new Cannondale Six13... I may be

Too light for the Tour :/, but not to light for me... Don't know
how/if I will come up with the cash, but a guy can dream...

Go on then, how much faster does it make you over 10/25/50 miles?

The Six13 is a sweet ride but the price...

The carbon main tubes are such to INCREASE the durability of the very
thin walls that would be required to achieve the weight reduction.

My 56 cm CAAD 4 frame alone weighs in at 1273 grams in its Saeco team
colors. Adding the necessary components for flight, it weighs in at a
6783 grams, minus water bottles of course. And even though I built it
from ground up, it still is only a $3400 ride.

I too have ridden the Six13 and while there is a subtle difference in
ride over the rough stuff, the sprint and climb performance is very
close to the CAAD4.
