Route from Hayward to the Dumbarton Bridge? Oakland to Hayward?

Also I rode Oakland to Hayward last week. From Alameda I went out
Doolittle which was great till I hit San Leandro, at which point I used
neighborhood streets and some of its boulevards to get to Hayward. I
know I could have taken the shoreline path but I thought that would take
me longer. Would it have? And/or can anyone suggest a better downtown
Oakland to Hayward route? Is San Leandro blvd still worthy?

THX in advance!!
