Default Schwalbe Marathon XR: Yay or Nay?

Schwalbe Marathon XR tyres? Yay or Nay?

Looking for a less gnarly set of tyres to replce my tioga factory XCs, as I
mainly do forest trails / paths / birdelways etc, I very rarely go cycling
through deep mud.

So are the Schwalbe Marathon XR tyres a good choice?

Take it by the lack of replies they are not a good choice?

Any other suggestions?

It could just be that nobody who might reply has tried them. That
doesn't make them bad. Or necessarily good...

excellent touring tyre if you don't mind turning your bike into a slug.
The 2005 folding version should be improved. If you don't need the ultra
puncture resistance, a non XR marathon is probably more sensible

Don't know about the Schwalbes but I've been using IRC Mythos XC Semi
Slicks (£14.99 from Wiggle) for similar conditions.

Look interesting tyres.

How do you find them? Smooth running on tarmac paths?

Yes, there's initially a slight buzz but I forget that almost immediately.
I only ride the bike on holiday and about half of that time is on the road.
I mostly use it for climbing alpine passes and gravel roads in order to
access higher walks.

Here's a pictu

Schwalbe seem decent to me. Whatever model is standard on the Galaxy
works well and doesn't get too many punctures, and the slick ones for
the MTB are fine.

As for Marathon XR, couldn't really tell you.

Not sure about XR, but I've got Schwalbe Marathons on my hybrid and
they seem very good. No punctures and fairly quick for semi-slicks.
I did a search in uk.rec.cycling/Google Groups and found a lot of good
reports about their tyres.
