If some lump of cycling **** tried that with me, I would put the **** in
hospital and enjoy doing it.

For once you would be justified.
Except it is the courts which mete out such things and not vigilantes.

According to witnesses, the perp tried to physically assault the cyclist with a raised hand which sparked off the headbutt reaction.

Maybe he was just trying to parry the bicyclist who had charged through
the red light.

Like me sitting in the outside lane of the motorway blocking drivers who want to speed?

You are not entitled to be a policeman. (Just like the cyclist hindering
drivers from going the wrong side of a bollard.)

That seems like a different situation to me.
To me a red light means STOP!
Then I can quietly and cheerfully safely watch the deliciously
miniskirted damsels ambling past.

Maybe I am reading this wrong, but surely the pedestrian had right of
way, the cyclist went through a red light to clip the pedestrian.

i.e. the Ped wasn't jaywalking but the cyclist was RLJing.

I don't understand why Simon posted this report. He could be losing it as
most suicyclists tend to do.

An example of people taking the law into their own hands.
Careful with that chisel, Steven.

Simon has not been 'normal' for many years. Jumping off a bridge, being
run over and finding God seems to have finished him off. Very sad,
people tried to guide him, but like all cyclists, he knew better.

It's Stephen/Steve and I have yet to use that chisel. If it was not for
footpath riding cycling thugs I would not need to carry it.
