Default Vistalite VL400 Series

November 13, 2003

Hello..

Anyone out there know how to do disassemble a Vistalite VL400 series head
light.

I am having trouble with the contacts on the DC 5.5mm od 2.5mm id jack.

I have opened up the case.. but cannot seem to remove the 4AA battery case that
is wedged in there. I tried to pull the 4AA case straight out but it does not
budge.

As well, it looks like the 4AA battery case needs to be removed to get to
bulb. So there must be a easy sequence of steps that I have overlooked.

I don't know why I bother with this Vistalite junk.. but I don't seem to let go
of the old stuff -- even though I own bettter lights now.

Much obliged.

There must be a sequence for disassembly.. other than brute force..

The outer lens ring pops off (it will take considerable force), giving
you access to the bulb and reflector. I don't think that's going to help
you with the jack in the back though. If you visit your local bike shop
they might have a "carcass" that they sell to you cheaply, as Bell
Sports (VistaLite) was good about setting shops up with spares. Good Luck!
