Default Gas Electric Hybrid Bike. Builder claims 130mpg

Check this out. This could be the cleanest gas electric hybrid setup
I have ever seen. Still waiting to get more info from the builder but
supposedly it works.

=v= Except for the "gas" part, which is kind of exactly
the opposite of clean.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The generator/charger which he hauls with him does not really make this a
*hybrid,* in the same sense that the term is used with automobiles. The
drive is purely electric. The charger adds additional range by allowing him
to recharge the batteries while on the road. It is very doubtful that he
could draw enough power from the charging system to run the trike if he ever
let the batteries run down.

It IS hybrid in the sense that it also has pedals, so the rider can blend
electric power with leg power.

But so are mopeds, which don't have the inefficiency of converting to
electricity.

Mopeds get about the same MPG as claimed here. And mopeds go much faster
than the 15/16 MPH here. I believe most (all?) mopeds are 2-stroke. What is
this Honda 1000? I did find that it is the same 50cc as a moped.

I've found that the Honda generator has reservoirs for both gas and oil. It
then mixes them for you. So this generator will pollute just as much as a
moped.

I have also found that 4 stroke "mopeds" exist. So these would win on air
pollution. But the one I found was really a 50cc scooter and not what I
would call a moped. It gets 142 mpg. I could not find the top speed.
