Well, consider the monkeys are wise... They would share, say, 10
bananas among 10 monkeys and enjoy peace. Now some of the monkeys want
the lion's share of the bananas and some monkeys go hungry. War
follows.

Now consider that all the monkeys don't DESERVE the same amount, but
no one goes hungry. Fine. This is an imperfect world. It could be
argued that this could drive COMPETITION in a healthy way without the
monkeys getting too comfortable. Everybody must chip in according to
their capacity...

Isn't it funny this experiment has never been tried? I find it very
suspicious.

Communes and utopian societies have been attempted.
It's curious how they tend to fail.

In the States,
where you and I live,
it is uncommon for anybody to starve.

There are plenty of bananas to go round.
Homeless people know where to find them.
It's as if they grow on trees.

- so to speak

Our abundance grows on Costa Rican trees so to speak. Our farm land
shrinks as corn is fed to cars and the sprawl takes over green
pastures. Food prices have shot up accordingly...

If you read 'Fast Food Nation,' you'd see how much farmers would
benefit from cooperation.

It sounds like what happens when you give a bunch of bananas to a
bunch of monkeys. Mayhem is sure to occur. This is due to their
hierarchical nature. Some monkey wants more bananas.

Review human history. The heirarchical order is
extremely plain, the default, how we're wired,
in the bone.

Or do you have illusions we'll somehow "do better"
'cause we're so special and enlightened ... ???

So where's this ILLUSION of democracy fit into our hierarchical
nature. Let the stronger monkey --Gaddafis or Husseins-- rule over
their troop. Why our troop claim superiority? Is it military
superiority?

And yet the Scandinavians, Dutch and even the Germans demonstrate that
they can grow into CIVILIZATION in a short period of time. One thing,
RELIGION IS AN OBSTACLE TO THIS STEP TOWARD CIVILIZATION.

Not.

Of course, this fact can be corrected with proper oversight so no one
goes hungry.

And since WHEN has there EVER been 'proper
oversight" ????????? Name it. I dare you.
Humans -vs- humans. That's what you get.
No "proper" involved. Maybe you should pray
for 'divine' guidance hmmmm ?

Actually there's a lot of people praying --90% of Americans-- for
Jesus to come and end this jungle. Coming soon.

Notice we don't want a perfect state of socialism (1 banana per
monkey) but rather that no monkey goes hungry while there are bananas.

This is HUMANISM.

No ... that's idiocy.

Refer to the models above --even Canada.

The dumbest monkeys ARE gonna starve.

Only because this is a Darwinian system. It could be argued that some
will turn to planting bombs in the face of desperation.

Obesity is killing Americans and Europeans except for a few nations
that are smart enough to be different...

No problem in Somalia then ... must be the
healthiest people on earth :-)

Somalia is not because its institutions are broken down but some other
place is:

Somalia is because of Somalia ... and how humans
are wired.

Don't you dare try to defer blame.

Do we need the Hitler then? Do we need the manipulators like Bush
then? Monkeys do lie too. Very clever --I saw it last night. They cry
"predator" when there's none so they can grab food.

Perhaps if we resisted our monkey instincts toward aggression and
manipulation we can truly evolve. In other words, WE ARE STILL
MONKEYS.

One of the groups above is about "driving." And that in itself proves
that the philosophy of "every monkey for himself" doesn't work. Some
want to drive big trucks and defeat the system.

Why would you want to be bigger in the jungle?

See where we stand now?

I'm sitting down at the moment.
Sitting this one out, so to speak.

Life's dramas can be seen
as being dramatic forms of Life.
Tragic, terrible, awful, etc..

Plays and movies are similar.
When the show's over, people go
on about the business of being people.

When forms of Life exit
the stage of Life they were on,
Life goes on, in the Wings,
so to speak.

Being involved can be a phase.
Being uninvolved or evolved
can also be a phase.

Both phases, taken as a whole,
might be said to be a form of Tao.

- in a bamboo grove

I like riding a bicycle to change the world because I'm "casually
involved." I don't have a big stage like Al Gore, just do what I have
to do. Those who drive a truck (SUV) must deal with animal instincts --
bigger is better-- being more powerful than anything. My quest is for
BEAUTY, CURIOSITY, HEALTH, FRUGALITY, JUSTICE, COOPERATION,
SOCIALIZATION, GROOMING & SURVIVAL OF THE SPECIES.

The concept of Yin/Yang gives me a balance. I'm not looking for
perfection just moderation. I don't deny the monkey. We just got to
seek other paths other than predation. I was out at the beach today
with my banana kayak --hey it looks like a banana-- and I charged with
cosmic energy. Not even the big waves send by the motorboats made my
small craft sink.

Was is this excess of predation going on in the world now?

Speaking of monkeys ...

I'm reminded of the corporate tree full of monkeys. Years ago the tree was
full. Those on the top looked down and saw smiling faces. Those on the
bottom looked up and saw ... a** h***s.

Today the tree has just as many monkeys in the top branches who look down
and see a lot fewer faces and none of them smiling.

Those on the bottom look up and all they see are the same a** h***s.
