Over Reliance On Auto Pilot In Fatal Tesla Crash In California
They are wondering if CalTrans is responsible for not repairing the road fast enough:
https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/t...013430100.html CalTrans could set up precision navigation reflectors on road sides which could be made to be fail safe. If damaged or vandalized, the driver is notified that the vehicle is no longer in driverless mode except for the vehicle braking until some hands are on the wheel. Fail safe driverless is a horrendous problem with conventional road markings and doing it all with the cars cameras, sensors and computers alone. The "useful arts" are not being advanced with this approach. It's much smarter, easier, lower cost and safer for the government to work with the auto industry and install whatever reflectors they think work best, much like agreeing on one USP plug.
