Recumbent Seats
I currently have a high racer import with a foam padded seat. It is
comfortable but way too hot. Any suggestions for a cooler aftermarket replacement? Is this just an innate drawback to recumbents? Thanks |

There's foam padding and there's foam padding: some will allow more air through them than others. I use an HP-Vel "Airflow", an alternative is the Ventist (see http://www.ventisit.nl/). Mesh seats are generally reckoned to be better for not getting so sweaty. But none will vent your back as well as an upright... Agreed, but mine has a strip of impervious vinyl across the top, leaving me with a horizontal stripe of sweat just below the shoulder-blades. But none will vent your back as well as an upright... Agreed again, but all vent the crotch area /far/ better, even though there's a higher risk of insects getting into the shorts. Loose shorts of course, no need for tight-fitting lycra on a 'bent.
